NIC: Why is it being destroyed?

North Idaho College seems to be destined to lose its accreditation. The reasons behind this are obscure at this point.

The newcomers, as far as I’ve observed, are mostly middle aged to elderly. They voted for this board and this is obviously the outcome they wanted. However, one of these days each of these voters will need CPR, have a heart attack, need a joint replacement, need oxygen and emergency care, and there will be no phlebotomists, no nurses, no EMS people to take care of medical emergencies and medical procedures.

Also, the people who voted in this board at NIC will probably need an electrician, a carpenter, a plumber, an automotive repair person, a front-end alignment technician, a computer repair person, a secretary, bookkeeper or a restaurant cook to cook for them. These will be gone. The young people will not stay in this area if there are no opportunities for them to pursue a career here.

Not only will this area lose its professionals, but Kootenai County will lose many jobs and all the services and products and rentals that students need when attending college. The community will lose its beautiful auditorium, Art on the Green, and one of the best libraries in the state of Idaho.

Will a developer be able to grab that land? That is doubtful. So, what are the other motives? Someone needs to tell those of us who love North Idaho College, just why it is being destroyed. Man up.
