NIC: Show cause letter highlights leadership failures

It is with somber reflection that I read the letter of show cause from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, focused on the three problem board members of NIC and the temporary, but very expensive outside leadership group they have imported in to demonstrate their view of what a failed community college should look and act like.

Point after point in the letter highlights how they have failed in their core leadership responsibilities and oath of office to our community. As an elected official myself for many years, and as a multi-generational native of Kootenai County, I can say without reservation that while they may have received a majority of votes in the last election from their political power base, they do not represent the values of the majority of our communities. Thankfully that is not who we are.

I wonder if they are now finally shocked to their socks and willing to admit this really is serious. We misread the obvious feedback at every point, or do they say, “Hooray this is going according to plan and even beyond what we desired?”
