SCHOOL ELECTIONS: 'Just vote on March 14'

Thank you for your recent article on Rep. Alfieri’s move to eliminate the mid-year local elections for tax levies. I agree the process has become a second and, if necessary, a third bite at the same apple because during the May primary or November state/Fed election periods, which the majority of the local citizenry participates in, school tax levies do not always pass. And it seems the March and August elections only attract a smaller population of dedicated voters and these levies, which a majority just voted against a few months prior, now miraculously pass by the majority of voters in this smaller group.

Wake up, this means a small group of loyal voters are determining the tax levy for the entire local taxpaying population. Not cool. The lesson here is to vote. Each vote matters especially in these smaller, off major cycle elections for tax levies. Stop allowing a small group of voters to determine your tax bill. Vote yes or vote no, it doesn’t matter how you vote, just vote on March 14.
