POST FALLS SCHOOL LEVY: Vote yes

I’m a homeowner in Post Falls and a mother of three students in the Post Falls School District. The levy vote is coming up, and I encourage you to visit the PFSD website to learn what the levy is, how it’s funded, and why we should all care about its success.

During the previous levy, I walked door to door reminding voters to get to the polls and support our schools. I was surprised by how many people were misinformed about the cost of the levy and the importance of the funds it would generate. Please understand: passing this levy will not increase your property taxes! It will help our schools pay competitive salaries for support staff and teachers, fund critical building maintenance projects, and provide money for the extracurricular activities that help my children and so many others learn teamwork and strong social skills.

In a few years, my kids will be active members of our community. Maybe they’ll be installing your windows or helping you through a cancer diagnosis. Maybe they’ll be saving your business from a fire, delivering your mail or air-lifting you off a mountain. In the coming years, our community will rely on today’s students. We’ll depend on their talents, good judgment, knowledge and critical thinking every day. Let’s give them the best foundation possible. Strong public schools build strong communities.
