SCHOOL VOUCHERS: No one is forced to take them

| February 5, 2023 1:00 AM

Re: Richard Anderson’s letter of Feb. 3 concerning public funding of private schools. Mr. Anderson argues that there is little “indoctrination” in public schools, only private. Perhaps that is the way it was when he started his 40 years of teaching but… Haven’t you read anything on what’s going on in this country?

A vast majority of parents don’t think CRT, LGBTQ (yada yada yada), sex education in first grade, transsexualism, etc. belong in the classroom. Teachers are now admitting they are changing the titles of these subjects to avoid scrutiny. Even with our fairly liberal firearms laws I don’t believe anyone would hold a gun to anyone’s head forcing them to take a voucher.

Let the parents decide. If the public schools are doing their jobs well, there shouldn’t be a big concern about families abandoning their public school system. Yes, I believe there is a market for competition in many areas. Snowplowing? — Thanks for the idea.
