Leslie Kent Bumgarner, 81

| February 5, 2023 1:00 AM

Kent was born in Spokane, Wash., on March 3, 1941, to Dr. Leslie C. Bumgarner and Laura (Irwin) Bumgarner. He passed away unexpectedly Jan. 21, 2023, at age 81.

Kent attended Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, and Washington State University. He was the director of rate planning for Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone (US West) and provided expert witness testimony on demand analysis, econometric modeling, and price-elasticity at rate hearings. After retiring early from PNB, he did some computer software development and then had a successful home remodeling and handyman business. Kent had many interests and hobbies: weightlifting, nutrition, stock market, playing guitar, motorcycles and woodworking. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. Kent was brilliant, creative and physically strong his entire life.

Kent is survived by his wife, Margaret, in Post Falls, Idaho, son Brian (Jennifer) and five grandchildren in Camino, Calif.

Remembrances can be made to the Kootenai County Humane Society or charity of your choice. A celebration of Kent’s life will be held April 15, 2023, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Highlands Golf Course Grill, 5600 E. Mullan Ave., Post Falls, Idaho.
