New Year's Day run benefits Tesh

| December 27, 2023 1:00 AM

COEUR d'ALENE — The 47th annual New Year's Day fun run to benefit Tesh is set for 9:30 a.m. at Atlas Waterfront Park.

The 3-mile race is an out-and-back course that passes Riverstone Park and turns around at the Harbor Center.

It generally attracts a few hundred runners and walkers and raises several thousand dollars for Tesh, a nonprofit that helps youth and adults with disabilities develop skills that will help them learn to live independently.

Cost is $45. It includes a shirt, drinks and snacks.

In the old days, the run was called the Hangover Handicap and was a 5-mile race on Coeur d'Alene Lake Drive.
