POWELL, Wyo. — Freshman Maddie Williamson had 25 points and six rebounds for the shorthanded North Idaho Cardinals in an 83-77 win over the Carroll Saints JV on Friday at Northwest College.

“Maddie hit a couple of big baskets for us down the stretch,” said NIC coach Nathan Covill, who also praised freshman Aaliyah Clemons, who stepped into the lineup in Ryan’s absence. “Aaliyah had six assists and played really well in some extended minutes.”

Kendall PIckford, a redshirt freshman from Lake City High, had 18 points and eight rebounds and sophomore Addie Kiefer of Lakeland High had 14 points and eight rebounds for NIC (5-6).

“Kendall has to do a lot for us and play a few different positions, but played really well,” Covill said. “Addie was close to a double-double and we were able to get a few stops defensively and close out the game.

NIC, already without reserve Tayler Adams with a broken foot, was without starting guard Deniece Ryan, who suffered a concussion in Thursday’s game against Northwest.

“She’s been our best scorer and player right now,” Covill said. “We’ll get her evaluated and give her some time to get healthy. Right now, we’re kind of the walking wounded.”

NIC faces Northwest College today at 11 a.m.
