TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT CENTER: Fix lights first

Once again I believe that The Press is missing a major point of our “lack of trust” in the KMPO and the plan to place lights and cameras in additional places.

I contacted KMPO and even mentioned it in a previous letter to the editor, I believe, and that is: Why aren’t we fixing the existing camera and light regulated mess on U.S. 95 before you ask for more money to put additional cameras and light regulation on I-90 and other locations?

The current system is broken and fails to regulate traffic on U.S. 95. If I come into town from up north on 95, I am certain to be stopped at every light from Chilco to Prairie. I believe that is six stop lights…I may be short, but it definitely takes me forever to get to town. Much longer to get to Kootenai Health.

It’s not “all about lack of trust in government.” It’s also about proven failure by government when they ask for more taxpayer dollars to set up more lights and cameras that don’t work where we have them in place now.
