VEHICLES: A danger to bicyclists, pedestrians on trails

I am writing about the plethora of motorized vehicles on the Prairie Trail, which prohibits them. Now I’m not talking about the city trucks/workers that are allowed, but I have seen many motorcycles of late on there. Like so many people, I bike and walk my dog along the trail regularly. The latest was a few days ago while on my bike, a woman in a station wagon was zooming down the middle of the trail! It has gotten ridiculous, not to mention dangerous.

Speaking of dangerous, how about all the people who park along the dike road in the bike and pedestrian lane on the river side, to either load or unload, which is prohibited by law. I have had many episodes while riding my bike along there having to avoid the parked cars as well as the cars driving by, setting up a very bad situation for the bicyclists. Someone is bound to get hit sooner or later down there.

The city needs to get WAY more and bigger signs posted on these bike trails, saying NO stopping or parking, or motorized vehicles, as the few that are up do not seem to be doing any good. It would be nice to see the police patrolling the dike road more and ticketing people who do stop on the river side. That may be the only thing that will get people to stop this dangerous situation.
