CDA SCHOOL LEVY: Vote yes

I asked my youngest son, who graduated from CHS in 2018, what it would have been like if there hadn’t been any sports or activities when he was in high school. His answer was simple, “It levels the playing field mom.” I asked what he meant by that and he told me that all kids are equal in high school when it comes to sports and athletic talent. It doesn’t matter how much money a family has if you have talent, it will show up on the field.

I was taken back by that and then thought about how many students had come through CHS from blue collar families that had extraordinary athletic talent. Many who have gone on to play college sports from athletic scholarships. He went on to tell me that his best friend in college was from a blue collar family and without a scholarship through baseball, they would not have been able to send him to college without tremendous debt.

High School sports create opportunities for student athletes that they may not otherwise have. Through this commitment, teamwork, sacrifice and hard work, all of which translate into the classroom, helps shape our students for the roles they will pursue in life. Please consider this when you go to the polls on May 16. Vote “YES” for our students and their future.
