LEVY FAILURE: Account for money already being received

Parents of children in the Coeur d’Alene schools have received notification from schools that certain programs will be eliminated because of the recent failure of the supplemental school levy. As a taxpayer, I would rather have received information about what the school system intends to do with the funding they already receive.

Too many of today’s high school graduates are unable to do basic arithmetic or to communicate without an electronic device. They have been introduced to notions concerning individual identity choices that defy common sense and reason. In many cases, they have been subjected to political indoctrination rather than being introduced to the art of critical thinking. We see a lack of discipline and enforcement of common standards of decency.

We already know what the public schools are not doing. Their notice to eliminate beneficial sports and music programs is merely a further insult.
