The Post Falls School Board will swear in its newest member during a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Oct. 10.

Sara Rodriquez was unanimously selected out of five applicants during a special meeting Sept. 12. She will fill the Zone 3 vacancy left by former trustee Bonnie Beaulieu, who resigned from the board Aug. 8 for personal reasons. She had served on the board since 2011.

Rodriquez's child attended the Post Falls School District from kindergarten through high school and graduated in 2021. Rodriquez has supported school fundraisers and participated in the Post Falls High School Booster Club, in which she holds a general board position and assists with booster activities. She has been an active parent and supporter of Post Falls schools — she is involved with the Post Falls Junior Tackle and Cheer program and in 2020 was one of the founding members of the nonprofit Citizens for Post Falls Schools volunteer group.

"I believe this is a unique way for me to support our school district and students," Rodriquez wrote in her letter of intent to the district. "I am all about our schools and feel that I portray that in everything I do. Our students are the future and it is important to invest in and support them. I believe this whole-heartedly."

Zone 3 covers areas on the north, west and east sides of the Post Falls School District. Board Chair Michelle Lippert said the interview process to fill the Zone 3 vacancy went well.

"All five candidates appeared well-qualified and motivated by a genuine desire to be of public service," Lippert told The Press on Tuesday. "Sara has extensive experience within the district, especially with the booster club, athletics, Senior Parents and Citizens for Post Falls Schools. I believe she will be a great addition to our board."
