GROWTH: ‘Enough is enough’

| September 30, 2022 1:00 AM

I moved up here to Idaho when I was 3 years old. I love it up here and I never want to move. The people, the scenery, and the community spirit made me proud to live in such an amazing state. Although, there is something that is happening that grieves my heart.

For example, I was going down Meyer Road in Rathdrum, and I started to see all those beautiful farming fields, and I was so glad to live in a such a farm-oriented community. However, my happiness took a turn for the worst. I saw a huge new housing development that was being built. They had just simply plowed over the stunningly beautiful wheat fields and had built a giant eyesore there in its place.

Sadly, I see the same thing over and over again. Some nice pieces of land are now turned into unattractive apartments, condominiums, houses, etc. I used to look at the amazing view of farmland with joy in my heart. Now, the developers are marring my happiness and I’m sure I’m not the only one. It will continue to go on until North Idahoans stand up and say, “enough is enough.” If this is what progress is, then I say we could go along without it. Will you take a stand with me? At the end of the day, developers will probably just keep on building while many could care less. You see, progress must come, but at what cost?
