Lucille “Lu” Ann Collins, 84

Lucille “Lu” Ann Collins was born June 22, 1938 in Burbank, Calif., and passed on Sept. 18, 2022 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Lu was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Gladys Collins; her siblings: Margaret Collins, Avril Collins, Art Stone; and great-grandson, Cedar Gabriel.

She is survived by her three children: Lisa (Randy) Kinsey of Hayden, Idaho; Phil (Heather) Pigman of Seattle, Wash.; Eric (Yvette) Pigman of Goodfield, Ill.; grandchildren: Megan Gabriel, Aaron (Hayley) Gabriel; great-grandchildren: Orion Cohen, Flint Whitney, Charlie and Izzy Gabriel of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Lu graduated from high school at Canyonville Bible Academy in Canyonville, Ore., in 1956. She earned her associate in nursing degree at the University of Montana in 1960 and graduated from Montana State University with a bachelor of science in nursing in 1967.

During her early years, Lu enjoyed spending summers traveling the western U.S. with her nieces. She eventually settled with her family in Hayden Lake, Idaho in 1973. She was an active volunteer at the Hayden Lake Elementary School where her three children attended and helped establish the school library. Lu also worked as a nurse at Kootenai Memorial Hospital for many years. She enjoyed traveling, and for part of her nursing career was a traveling nurse. After retiring, Lu was involved in the quilting guilds of Northern Idaho, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Hayden Library.
