Lola Julia Cook Jensen, 88 of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, died Aug. 31 of natural causes. She was born June 24, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ernest Lowell Cook and Caroline Julia Rushton. Lola was raised in Salt Lake with her beloved sister Carol and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She had a very happy childhood.

In 1953, she met her future husband Jay, on a blind date set up by her cousin. They were married June 1, 1954, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and all eternity. In 1956 their first child, a son, Lynn, was born, then in 1958 their daughter, Karen, was born. Lola loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in several church callings, mostly in the Primary and Relief Society. She was a faithful ministering sister, and was loved my many. She loved to give service to others, which included her job at a school for disabled children.

She had many interests and talents. She and Jay loved to work in their beautiful yard. She had a great knowledge of flowers and plants. She and Jay loved to go camping in their beloved trailer every summer in the High Uintas. Those camping trips often included grandchildren. Lola loved to sew, read, cook and do crafts, and just be around family as much as possible.

In 2011, due to failing health, Jay and Lola moved to Coeur d'Alene to be closer to their two children. Jay passed away in 2013. Lola lived in The Lodge at Bristol Heights for the past seven years. She received wonderful care there. They were loving and kind. A special thanks goes to Kim, the facility manager. She looked after Lola with love and compassion. Thank you, Kim!
