SCHOOL LEVY: Failure hurts the kids

The defeat of the recent bond issue is unfortunate; the misinformation championed by many opposed is a poor reflection on our community. Support for public education is a pillar of a strong and free society. Some who opposed undoubtedly attended those same schools which were likely approved and paid for by their parents and grandparents.

Why wouldn’t we want to maintain that investment and provide needed security updates in this day and age? Deferred maintenance doesn’t go away, it only gets more expensive. What message did we send to overburdened teachers who labor in a difficult work environment? Ultimately, it’s the kids who lose. What a legacy.
