FORT GROUND GRILL: Sad to see it go

It is with sadness and disappointment that we are losing The Fort Ground Grill. The Fort Ground Grill is a special place; set in an historical building, on the Fort Grounds, and surrounded by ‘gem of North Idaho’ — North Idaho College. More than a bar and grill, it’s dedicated manager and staff, (several have worked there more than 10 years), offer a welcome that reflects the good in our community.

No doubt caught in the ugliness and politics surrounding the board, NIC opted to close this little gem rather than fighting back. We are losing community — local people have to find new jobs and patrons lose a wonderful place to gather. In my mind, our college has lost some of it’s luster.
