Danny Ray Meek, 61

| October 19, 2022 1:00 AM

Danny Ray Meek passed away peacefully Oct. 11, 2022, in his childhood home. Danny was a beloved husband, stepfather, brother and uncle. Danny had the express pleasure to be called the best fishing/hunting, firefighter, law enforcement and EMT buddy to many. Danny was born and raised in Hauser Lake, Idaho, to Ronald and Donna Meek on June 6, 1961.

Danny was a volunteer firefighter with the Hauser Lake fire department for close to 40 years. In those 40 years, Danny held many different ranks within the Hauser Lake fire department. One of the fundraisers the Hauser Lake fire department held every year is Breakfast with Santa. For over 30 years Danny got to enjoy the opportunity of playing Santa at that event. Other community organizations Danny was actively involved with through the years were the Hauser Lake Lions Club, Rathdrum Lions Club, and Hauser Lake Gun Club.

Danny worked for Jacklin Seed for 40 years while simultaneously working as a Kootenai County Sheriff for seven years. Danny's life has always been about service to the community.

Danny met the love of his life, CJ (Cynthia Jo) Eades, while both were employed at Jacklin Seed. Danny and CJ got to enjoy many years of wedded bliss. Diane Hylton, Danny’s sister, says in Danny’s own words CJ was life-changing for him and will always be his “baby doll”.

Danny is survived by his wife CJ Meek of Hauser Lake, sister Diane (Rocky) Hylton, nephew Dr. Ryan K. (Mellissa) Hylton of Dortmund, Germany, nephew Shane (Amelia Cantwell) Hylton of Kitchener Ontario Canada, sister Karen Phillips, niece Kristina Brennan, niece Nicole Snow, brother Dennis (Bobbi) Meek, niece Kelly Jo Dahlstrom, nephew Mike Meek, nephew Waylon Meek, stepson Cameron Bowman of Post Falls, stepdaughter Sydnee (Cliff) Benner of Denver CO + lots of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Danny attended John Brown Elementary in Rathdrum, Idaho, and graduated from Lakeland High School. He played football and wrestled for the Lakeland Hawks. He played both offense and defense for the football team, however, his greatest love at high school was being a heavyweight wrestler for Lakeland high school. The stories lasted a lifetime. Danny was a true hometown boy.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 18 at Calvary Lutheran Church 1011 N. Compton St, Post Falls, Idaho, 83854 with a potluck reception to follow. The family is grateful for the wonderful care and support provided by U.S. Renal Care of Post Falls, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Hauser Lake Fire Department.
