SHOLEH: Spot on

| November 30, 2022 1:00 AM

For millions in Iran whose lives are dictated by the whims of elitist old men spouting religious dogma, “Women, life, freedom!” is much more than idle bidding. It is the rumble of millions who lost their freedoms, their basic human rights, their rights to free assembly and speech. Things we in America are seemingly willing to forego as well, and rather believe instead in social media, politicians or religious leaders.

Iranians are fighting back because they have been governed by a state theocracy for 43 years. In this short time Iran has become an educational, economical and human rights backwater. Only a comparatively few Iranians, those connected to the ruling party of theocrats live carefree comfortable lives. The majority, however, are persecuted for their religion, race, gender or sexual orientation, having limited rights and opportunities. The masses of Iranians live subsistent lives or in constant fear of reprisal by the ruling class. Thank you Sholeh, no matter the outcome team Meili are champions to millions of Iranians around the world or living under the thumb of wealthy old men playing God.
