Barnhart, a junior, won the state 3A cross country championship on Oct. 29 at the Lewis-Clark State Course, finishing in 15 minutes, 47.36 seconds. Barnhart was ninth as a sophomore in 2021. “Jacob had a breakthrough race at Bob Firman (Barnhart was third overall),” Timberlake coach Shawn Lawler said. “That single race changed his mindset. He started believing that he could not only compete at a higher level, but win races.”
