Bill Lynn Mathes, 83

Bill Lynn Mathes, 83, passed away Nov. 10, 2022, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Bill was born Jan. 15, 1939, in Brownsville, Texas, to Lynn and Clora Mathes. His family then moved to Portland, Ore., and became a barber in 1960.

In December of 1965, Bill met April and they married April 18, 1966, in Reno, Nev. Together, they had daughter Tammie and son Travis.

In Oregon, Bill owned four barber shops, and one in Post Falls, Idaho, from 2002 to 2015, called “Razor’s Edge.” Since then, Bill had worked at another shop called “Papa’s Barber Shop” for the last seven years.

Bill was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Hayden, Idaho. Bill loved the lord Jesus Christ. He enjoyed welding together trailers, riding horses, traveling, driving semi-trucks and driving logging trucks.

He is survived by wife April Mathes of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; daughter Tammie (Tim) Shields of Sandpoint, Idaho; son Travis Mathes of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; sisters Bea, Faye and Audra; and multiple nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Cecil, Don and Connie; and sister Berta.
