PREP BASKETBALL: Colvin helps Viks roll in opener

MOSCOW — Teagan Colvin, a junior transfer from Liberty High in Spangle, Wash., scored 17 points to lead the Coeur d’Alene Vikings to a 60-13 win over the Moscow Bears in a nonleague game at Bear Den on Friday.

Junior guard Maddie Mitchell scored 11 points, seven in the first quarter for Coeur d’Alene in its season opener. Senior Madi Symons scored five points, all in the third quarter, for Coeur d’Alene, which travels to Eagle on Dec. 1.

Moscow (0-2) hosts Kellogg next Friday.

KELLOGG — Aliya Strock scored all of her game-high 19 points in the first three quarters for the Bulldogs in a win over the Wildcats in the semifinals of the Silver Valley Tournament at Andrews Gymnasium.

Karlie Banks and Daylee Driggs scored 14 points each for Sandpoint (1-1), which faces Bonners Ferry in today’s championship game at 12:30 p.m.

Bonners Ferry beat Wallace 55-15 in the other semifinal.

Macy Jerome scored 13 points for Kellogg (0-1), which faces Wallace at 11 a.m. in the consolation game.

Helena Thanksgiving tourney

HELENA, Mont. — Danica Kelly had 14 points, four assists and four steals for the Royals in a 45-16 win over Helena Christian in the opening game of the Helena Thanksgiving Shootout at East Valley Middle School.

Chelsey Cate had 13 points and 13 rebounds, Symone Pilgrim seven points, 12 rebounds and eight steals for North Idaho Christian against Helena Christian.

Later, North Idaho Christian advanced to the semifinals with a 31-20 win over Stillwater Christian of Kalispell, Mont.

Jennifer Peterson had 14 points and four steals, Kelly 11 points, seven assists and seven steals and Cate nine rebounds for North Idaho Christian (2-0), which faces Great Falls Christian in the semifinals today.

The championship game will be immediately after.
