LETTERS: Monthly writer feels silenced

As I write this Letter to the Editor, I have a sense of peace within my soul. My last two letters have been rejected by the Coeur d’Alene Press. It’s their right to not print my letters. I’ve written numerous letters over the past few years — mostly political, always heartfelt to what I felt was going on in our nation. The past two Biden years have given me a wagonload of things to express my opinion. Mike Patrick printed my letters even though I suspected he didn’t always (or ever) agree with me. Thanks Mike!

Small town newspapers are the lifeblood of their communities. I really do love to read my newspaper each morning. Its absence on Mondays kinda messes up my day. So what to do?! Cancel my subscription (like cutting off my nose to spite my face), sugar coat the crazy and evil actions of this present administration (can’t do that and sleep well), cry out for my First Amendment rights (who would listen or care?), become a liberal (not in this lifetime).

My conclusion — Live with it! So — in another time and another place, those who come after me will exclaim “Where was your voice in all of that madness as they took away the freedom that you so loved and cherished and replaced it with communism?!” I can only hold my head in sorrow and sadness and say “I tried. It was silenced.”

So long folks, for now.
