NIC ELECTION: Vote for Broschet, Corkill and Zimmerman

| November 4, 2022 1:00 AM

Believe it or not, North Idaho College is still under threat of losing its accreditation. The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities oversees 156 institutions in Idaho, Utah, Oregon, Nevada, Alaska, Montana and Washington. North Idaho College is the only one with a warning status.

While the college has addressed some of the problems identified by the NWCCU, there is still a red flag — governance. This is directed not at the administration, who has been commended by the NWCCU, but at the Board of Trustees.

Three conservative candidates running for the board, recognize this threat and have the skills and commitment to address it. They are: Pete Broschet, Brad Corkill and Tarie Zimmerman.

Broschet, Corkill and Zimmerman have addressed the accreditation issue while their opponents deny any exists.

If the college loses accreditation, be aware courses will not transfer to other institutions. All students, including career technical students, will lose financial aid. Dual enrollment will come to an end.

So please vote for candidates who understand and are willing to address the issue. Vote Broschet, Corkill and Zimmerman. Fair minded and committed community members.
