Dozer Day this weekend in Post Falls

POST FALLS — The National Utility Contractors Association of Eastern Washington and North Idaho will host Dozer Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and again Sunday at Cabela's in Post Falls.

Dozer Day is an annual, community event hosted by the excavation industry to give kids an opportunity to operate heavy construction equipment and enjoy other excavation-related activities.

“We’re a nonprofit trade organization that supports the excavation industry,” said Executive Director Sheri Nowlan. “We do a lot of training and safety. The event supports our foundation and we also give back to the community.”

Excavation work is among the most dangerous in the construction industry. National Utility Contractors provides industry training, advocacy and workforce development opportunities.

Tickets are available at ewni.dozerday.org. For children 2 to 12 tickets are $8 online or $11 at the door, adults are $10 or $13 at the door. Military and senior discounts are available.

Proceeds from the event support the work done by the association, with about 30% going to local charities. Children’s Village in Coeur d’Alene and Communities in Schools, based in Spokane.

Professional equipment operators will accompany drivers and hard hats will be provided. Cabela’s is at 101 N. Cabela Way, Post Falls.
