Seeing lots of red

COEUR d'ALENE — Members of the Hagadone team planted geraniums Monday.

And we're talking lots of them.

"There is no doubt that Geranium Day is one of my favorite days of the year," said Cally King, director of marketing and events for Lake Coeur d'Alene Cruises and Hagadone Marine Group. "It has become such a fun annual tradition for our team members, and it's one we always look forward to doing together, rain or shine."

Hagadone Marine Group uses 3,800 geraniums on Blackwell Island, at Cedars, the new Quick Launch and the HMG sales office.

Hagadone Corp. purchases 50,000 of the flowers total every year, for use at HMG, The Resort, corporate offices, The Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course, The Press and more.

HMG had 20 team members join the planting Monday. Many came over from The Boardwalk Marina and Silver Beach Marina to join the team on Blackwell Island to make the magic happen, King said.

"This is the first year we have planted geraniums over at the Quick Launch area. The landscaping is new in that area, and the geraniums add a fun splash of color in front of the navy blue building," she said.

Molly Mulholland, events coordinator for Lake Coeur d'Alene Cruises and Hagadone Marine Group, said this is her first year with the Hagadone companies.

"So it was also my first year joining the team during Geranium Day. I didn't know what to expect at first, but I must say that it was so much fun from start to finish," she said. "Not only was it exciting to get out of the office with coworkers, but it was also a fun change of pace to be able to help out with the landscaping side of things."
