NORRIS: Tale of two ads

This LTE is directed to Sheriff Bob Norris.

There were two political endorsements that caught my eye Saturday in The Press. They were endorsing two candidates I have never met or had any interaction with.

One was for Bob Scott. The endorsement was from four individuals and two groups of people. They asked for voters to vote for Mr. Scott and added three positive attributes they felt made him a good candidate.

I turned to the next page of the paper and there, in full half page below the fold was your endorsement for Bruce Mattare. I believe Mr. Mattare was your campaign manager when you ran for Sheriff?

It would follow that you know a lot about this individual. However, the bulk of your “endorsement” piece said less about Mr. Mattare’s qualifications than it was a smear against Commissioner Fillios.

There has been talk about another group in this county that employs these tactics. You now appear to be endorsing that kind of negative campaigning.
