CONSTITUTION: Assault confusion

I just read Mike Crapo’s half-page ad in the Coeur d’Alene Press asserting that “Our Constitution is under assault-we’re in a battle with Biden/Shumer/Pelosi.”

I would have to agree with him that our Constitution is under assault, but it is not from the Democrats. Has he forgotten Jan. 6, 2021? It wasn’t a mob of Democrats that tried to overturn an election.

Has he forgotten when Mitch McConnell refused to allow consideration of Merrick Garland for Supreme Court Justice when President Obama still had eight months in office?

And then, has he forgotten how this same Mitch McConnell allowed for the vote on Amy Coney Barrett with less than a month before an election?

Mike Crapo continues, “I am running for re-election to stay in the fight for our freedom and our future.” This, as the Supreme Court is considering usurping precedent by overturning Roe vs. Wade and taking away a fundamental freedom for women and their health care. What other freedoms that the American people have had under their Constitution will this Supreme Court and Republican legislature and governors in states across the country be able to take away?

So, Mike, what is this “assault on our Constitution” that you are worried about? I know what I am worried about and it doesn’t come from the Democrats.
