Joseph Gregory Cariss Sr., 80

Joseph Gregory Cariss Sr., age 80, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, after battling cancer for three years. He is survived by his wife Colleen, six of his seven children, his sister, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He grew up in Illinois and attended the University of Missouri. While at the university, he earned a degree in animal husbandry and a minor in genetics.

Throughout his life, he lived in Illinois, California, Washington, and Idaho. As an adult, he chose to pursue a career as a sales representative for various industries. After retiring Joe spent 12 seasons working at Silverwood in various departments. The last few years he greeted everyone entering the park, which he loved. Joe had a love for outdoor activities — boating, hunting, and hiking. He also enjoyed traveling and long drives to find the less-traveled roads and hidden gems.

He devoured books much the same way he did sweets. He will be remembered for his sharp wit, storytelling/tall tales and knowledge of history. His family will always be grateful for the love and compassionate care given by Hospice of North Idaho. The family will be holding a small memorial service to remember him.
