PRECINCT: Republican explains record

| May 13, 2022 1:00 AM

I am running for a Republican Precinct Committeeman position downtown and need to set the record straight after my opponent sent out a letter making false accusations against me.

I first registered as a Republican in 2002 in California where I grew up (nobody’s perfect). I moved to Coeur d’Alene in 2007, remaining a Republican until 2012, when I became unaffiliated.

In 2016, I registered as a Republican again and remained so until 2020, when I became independent for a moment and then re-registered as a Republican. In 2018 (as a Republican) and 2020 (when unaffiliated), I pulled dem style primary ballots (I had my reasons).

However, my opponent downtown claims in her letter to voters that I was a registered Democrat who only affiliated with the Republican Party in 2022 (to undermine conservative values and subvert efforts to get out the vote, etc.).

You can pull my registration history to see that this is false. She gave you false information about a Republican primary candidate. We had previously met and she was incredibly friendly, even talking about withdrawing.

I reached out to her to confront her about the letter and this time the conversation did not go well. She has said I do not have the stomach for politics, and while she’s right about that, God help me if I don’t have the spine to stand up to it.

It’s up to you to decide whether or not this is what you want our local politics to be like.
