ADDIS: Backs the best bills

| May 13, 2022 1:00 AM

I am endorsing Jim Addis for re-election to Idaho House 4A. During the past four legislative sessions, Jim has been careful of the laws he supports to assure the legislation fits the proper role of government.

In 2019, Jim sponsored and passed HO141. This was a first and major change to the 1971 Surface Mining Act. There were many issues that covered miners’ concerns to mine minerals and ore in Idaho.

Our communities had concerns; were there going to be jobs and of course reclamation of disturbed surfaces needed to be guaranteed in law that the surface would be restored. This bill passed with bipartisan votes.

Nothing is more important than transparency in government. Jim was a sponsor on HO73. This bill requires uniformity in government accounting, improves transparency in government spending and guarantees that this information is published on the Idaho State Controller’s website for the public to review.

This bill includes all the state agencies, Departments, Counties, Cities including all taxing districts. The sponsors worked two years on this bill and it was passed with bipartisan votes.

Currently, Jim serves as vice chairman of the Revenue and Tax Committee. Jim continues to work on taxing issues that come before the Rev and Tax Committee.

Jim has been effective the past four years in the Legislature supporting small business, education, lower taxes and our local responders.

Please join me in voting for Jim Addis on May 17.
