| May 12, 2022 1:15 AM

SPIRIT LAKE — Timberlake sophomore Logan Walsh has done the job in the third spot in the batting order all season.

Now, she’s taking it to the postseason.

Walsh went 5 for 6 with five RBIs and five runs scored for the top-seeded Tigers in a 34-3 win over the fourth-seeded Bonners Ferry Badgers in a 3A District 1 opening round game at Timberlake High on Wednesday.

“All year long, she’s been squaring up the ball really well,” Timberlake coach Casi Lupinacci said. “She’s been a good solid hitter all year long.”

Timberlake (20-4) hosts Kellogg (6-14) in the championship game today at 4 p.m. The Wildcats defeated Priest River 17-7 in Kellogg in the other opening round game on Wednesday.

Freshman Jesi Kitchin had four hits, five RBIs and four runs scored for Timberlake.

“She was just solid at the plate,” Lupinacci said. “She did a great job of getting on base.”

Bonners Ferry (1-19) visits Priest River (4-17) in a loser-out game today.
