SPIRIT LAKE — Caden Robinett delivered a two-run single with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 5-4 for top-seeded Timberlake, which was unable to get any closer in a loss to the second-seeded Bonners Ferry Badgers in the 3A District 1 baseball championship game on Wednesday at Timberlake High.

Timberlake (14-7), seeking its first district title since 2019, hosts Kellogg today in the second-place game, with that winner advancing to a state play-in game on Saturday.

Kellogg (10-9) eliminated Priest River (2-18) 2-0 in a loser-out game at Morehouse Field in Osburn.

Today’s winner will face Homedale in the play-in game.

Bonners Ferry (13-11), which has won the previous two district titles, advances to state next Thursday to Saturday at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa.

Porter Schulte put Bonners Ferry ahead 4-0 on a two-run triple in the third inning. Wilson Newell also had two RBIs for the Badgers, which split games with Timberlake in the regular season.
