FILLIOS: Far above reproach

As an elected official, I tend to shy away from endorsing candidates. After receiving a “rack card” allegedly from Sheriff Norris, I feel compelled to set the record straight regarding Commissioner Chris Fillios.

Of all the residents of Kootenai County, I probably know Chris best — by far. I have worked with him every day for almost three years.

He is not a liberal or a Democrat. He is in fact a conservative Republican. Sometimes we disagree but he is always honest and principled.

He believes in our Second Amendment protections and is not “anti-gun.”

The postcard is the best example of a smear campaign that I have seen — and I grew up in Chicago, the city of dirty politics!

I would caution all Republican voters to disregard this attempt to smear a good man who has worked tirelessly for the people of Kootenai County, and to punish those who attempt to manipulate the voters by using blatant smear tactics late in an election.

I wholeheartedly endorse Chris Fillios in his bid for a third term as a county commissioner.
