LITTLE LEAGUE JUNIORS

Post Falls Gray defeated the Lakeland Pirates 33-3 and 27-5 in a doubleheader on April 23.

In the first game, Kainen Palma struck out six in two innings for Post Falls. McKade Brown allowed two runs and two hits for the Pirates. Jonas Brown, Kainen Palma, Michael O’Connor, Brock Carpenter, Mike Witherspoon and Mark Rubio had multiple hits for Post Falls, and Robert Houser stole three bases.

In the second game, Witherspoon scored four runs and Carpenter, O’Connor, Hayes, and Colton Gookin each scored three. Colton Gookin and Carpenter each stole four bases.

The Thorns North FC 2009G Red girls soccer team traveled to the Tri-Cities for two games against the Three Rivers Soccer Club on Sunday.

The Thorns won the first game 6-0 against 3 Rivers 2010G and 7-1 against 3 Rivers 2009G.

Thorns goals were scored by Audrey Linder (4), Chloe Burkholder (3), Lucia Barton (2), Katie Kovatch , Lila Moreau, Ryann Blair and Ava Roberts, with assists from Aspen Liddiard, Audrey Linder, Lucia Barton, Nell Dodge-Hutchins and Cate Storey.

On Saturday, the Thorns hosted Spokane Sounders South and Spokane Sounders Valley, then played Sandpoint Strikers on Sunday. The team ended the weekend with 2 wins, 2 losses and a tie. Gracie McVey, MacKenzie Dolan, Ava Langer and Olivia Hynes all had assists. Goalkeepers Gracie McVey and MacKenzie Dolan teamed for the shutout in goal. This upcoming week the Thorns North FC 11G Green team will compete in the annual Bill Eisenwinter Hot Shot Tournament in Coeur d'Alene.
