ABORTION: A grandson’s story
This is in response to Ellen Lewis “Abortion: One Big Step Back” dated March 23.
In Ms. Lewis’s letter she stated, “Let’s realize there will always be abortions. We cannot stop that.” Her premise is interesting — considering that we put people in jail and sentence them to death for committing murder.
To put my point across, let’s rephrase her statement to say “Let’s realize there will always be murder. We cannot stop that.” When we look at it that way — do we then justify abortion/murder or do we condemn it?
For the record, I support Idaho SB1309 and encourage Governor Little to support this legislation also. Here is the link in case you’d like to give it a quick read: https://legislature.idaho.gov/sessioninfo/2022/legislation/S1309, which is titled: “Fetal Heartbeat Preborn Child Protection Act.”
Simply stated, this Senate Bill defines that “human life begins at conception, and the detectable heartbeat of the preborn child is the key medical predictor in whether a preborn child will reach live birth.” When a woman believes she is pregnant, and takes the pregnancy test to determine this, it can read positive or negative — however, it isn’t until the fetal heartbeat is detected that it truly becomes a reality.
If this is the case, and the detection of the heartbeat is the indicator of life in the womb of the preborn child, then to extinguish that heartbeat is to kill that child, thus murder.
I speak from experience on this matter. My grandson, who is 12 years old, was once an embryo that his birth mother considered aborting. Thankfully she chose to give life to him and allow him to be adopted into our family. I will be forever thankful that she did this: gave him life.
