LAKE CDA: Money pit for studies
It seems that we never learn. About the time you think you finally have some control over the situation, the government comes up with a new program to spend more money needlessly.
Several years ago a study was made of the sediments at the bottom of Lake Coeur d’Alene. It was determined that a century of mining in the Silver Valley had left millions of tons of metal-rich sediment at the bottom of the lake. It was an expensive study with a logical conclusion.
The conclusion was that it would be very expensive to remove the sediment at the bottom of the lake and it would only stir up the sediment and cause great harm to the quality of the water in the lake. It was determined to do nothing, as the safest place for the sediment was at the bottom of the lake.
Now we have a new study spending more money. And the conclusion will be the same as the only solution is to do nothing.
There is nothing wrong with our great lake and this kind of activity needs to stop. This is a colossal waste of our money.
