Valarie Lynn Posey, 57

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Valarie Posey, 57, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away suddenly March 11, 2022. Valarie was born Sept. 22, 1964, in Jamestown, N.D., to Cynthia and Marvin Petersen.

Valarie spent most of her life working as a server where she enjoyed helping people. She loved helping her mom can pickles, cook and bake to prepare for family gatherings where she loved being surrounded by her family. Some of Valarie’s favorite things to do were going on vacation to the ocean, horseback riding, Lake Coeur d’Alene Cruises, going out with friends, shopping, having a barbecue on a nice summer day and most of all, spending time with her daughters, grandkids and best friend, Jim Posey.

Valarie is survived by her daughters, Amber Pennock (Mitch Pennock) of Coeur d’Alene and Kimber Blegen of Coeur d’Alene; grandchildren Taylor Skiles, Marie Taysom, Aliya Pennock, Clayton Pennock, Khloe Taysom and Mia Blegen; her siblings, Victoria Petersen of Missoula, Mont., Scott Petersen (Jill Petersen) of Spokane, Wash., and Tim Petersen of Coeur d’Alene; and many nieces and nephews.

Valarie is preceded in death by her mother, Cynthia Petersen; father Marvin Petersen; sister Renae Petersen and ex-husband/best friend, Jim Posey.

The family will honor Valarie with a viewing at 12:30 p.m. and a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Yates Funeral Home, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene.
