MUSEUM: Love local history

| March 16, 2022 1:00 AM

Many thanks to the Museum of North Idaho, Deborah Mitchell and The Press for the Signal Point Ski Resort article.

Mait Wilkins was my dad. The one and only snowplow was a U.S. Army surplus BIG 6x6 truck with a rotary plow attached. Mait designed the rotary apparatus and built it at Allied Weldery on Second Street, where that business still stands today.

We also had a ’41 Dodge Power Wagon 4x4 Carry-all, which Roger Young filled with “us kids” on Saturdays to drive up that treacherous road for a day of skiing. I doubt many of “us” are still around today, but we have many happy memories. I love these local stories.
