HIGH RISE: Million-dollar message

I read the front-page article “High Rise Hopeful.” It made me wonder, just who are these condos being built for? With a gym, a pool, a golf simulator?

Sixty people will live there — year-round — doubtful. Policemen-doubtful. Teachers-doubtful. People who work in the hospitality industry-doubtful. Sheriff’s deputies-doubtful.

No mention was made of the price of these condos but by the amenities you can just imagine. Just like the article several months ago about the five multi-million homes being built in Coeur d’Alene.

I thought we had a housing shortage for people who wanted to live and work here, but Coeur d’Alene is sure sending the message of “If you have money, come. We will be prepared for you with open arms.”

How sad. Not the message we should be putting out there for the ORDINARY people who want to live here.
