Mary Catherine D'Andrea, 60

| June 29, 2022 1:00 AM

Mary Catherine D'Andrea, “Katy," as she was affectionately known, died peacefully in her sleep at age 60, on June 12, 2022, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She is now at peace and with her son, Adam Douglas Roy, her mother, Mary Ann D'Andrea, and her aunt Patricia Sheets in Heaven.

As one of the most sensitive human beings to ever walk this Earth, she had a presence and a compassionate soul willing to help and listen whenever possible. She believed that "if God brought us to it, then God would get us through it."

Katy loved art, singing, writing and most of all her trust in God. She had a strong faith that got her through so many obstacles in her life. She saw the beauty and meaning in the smallest things, always grateful and kind to others.

Katy leaves behind her father, Douglas D'Andrea (Coeur d’Alene, Idaho) who was an anchor throughout her life. Also two brothers Marc D’Andrea (Coeur d’Alene, Idaho) and David (wife, Patricia) D'Andrea (Papillion, Neb.) whom she was extremely proud of. Katy loved her three daughters unconditionally, Elizabeth Ann D'Andrea McCoy (Milford, Va.) Mary Lou Roy (Warrenton, Va.) and Catherine “Allison” Gyde (Taylor, Mich.) were her greatest accomplishments. Katy was so proud of her children and loved them fiercely. Katy has two grandchildren, Aadan Allen McCoy and Harriet Elise Schlichtenmyer Childress, whom she adored. Leaving these words for her grandchildren "stars are keeping watch above you, sleep and dream and know I love you."

Katy was ill for many years and her loved ones find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace. Katy firmly believed that in the blink of an eye, everything could change. So forgive often and love with all your heart. You may never know when you may not have that chance again. Katy will be greatly missed.
