COEUR d’ALENE — The first one left a little bit of a bad taste in the mouths of the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen.

So they went out and did something about it.

Coeur d’Alene pitcher Ryan Schneider allowed two hits over five innings, striking out 10 in an 11-1 win in the second game of a North Idaho League twinbill against the Lewis-Clark Twins at Thorco Field on Tuesday. The Twins won the opener 14-12 after the Lums left 14 on base.

“Our guys didn’t like the pain of that first game,” Coeur d’Alene coach Darren Taylor said. “We had a lot of walks and passed balls. There wasn’t a lot of good baseball on either side in that first game.”

Joe DuCoeur hit a three-run home run in the first inning of the second game for Coeur d’Alene.

Kyle Bridge, Marcus Manzardo, Schneider and Cooper Larson had two RBIs each for the Lums in the nightcap.

Schneider, who missed last weekend’s CWU Summer Series due to a family vacation, shut down the Twins on 87 pitches.

“His vacation was really good for him,” Taylor said. “It was a little bit of a graduation retreat for him and his family and it did him well.”

Lewis-Clark scored four runs in the seventh to rally for the win in the first game.

“They’ve got a good team and hit the heck out of the ball,” Taylor said. “They’re a dangerous team.”

Schneider went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and Bridge, Spencer Zeller and Manzardo scored two runs each for Coeur d’Alene in the opener.

Chris Ricard and Bryce Bensching drove in three runs each for Lewis-Clark in the first game.

Coeur d’Alene (12-6) competes in the Josh Dickerson Memorial Tournament starting Thursday in the Seattle area.

Lewis-Clark is 11-5 and will host the Lums on July 13.

As the only two AA teams in the North Idaho League, both Lewis-Clark and Coeur d'Alene will advance to state. The teams will play a best-of-3 game Area A (district tournament) to determine state seeding at Thorco Field on July 16-17.
