YEARBOOK: Accountability required

| June 15, 2022 1:00 AM

I think the entire community needs to be outraged at this. If school teachers and administrators are so inept in performing the HEALTHY development of our children, they should all be forced to resign.

Context is everything. This ridiculous program has been underway in a time where the entire country lives in fear of school shootings. This exercise had absolutely no educational value, was not promoting the mental health of our children, and was destructive at best. This community does NOT need teachers and administrators who are operating this way in violation of the sacred trust we assign them to educate our children.

Additionally, the principal, Nick Lilyquist, should also be forced to resign and made example of to the other principals. Either he enabled this, should have filtered it out and shut it down, etc. He clearly is not focused on the appropriate priorities in the school to achieve what is in the best interest of our children.

Ask yourself, what if this triggered a shooting event?

I encourage all parents in the school district to write a letter to the School Board demanding the immediate termination of anyone affiliated with the project in any way. Set the tone for other educators that this and any other behaviors contrary to the healthy development of our children will not be tolerated. This notion that an educator can be either so inattentive or malicious, and simply apologize it away needs to be eliminated by the parents.
