James Bingham, MD, 67

James Bingham, MD, passed away June 1, 2022. Jim was born September 16, 1954, in Sedro-Woolley, Wash. He graduated from Pacific Lutheran University and went on to study medicine at the University of Washington. He started his career in Spokane as a family physician at Group Health and practiced there for 32 years, caring for multiple generations of families. He considered being a physician a sacred trust and his attention to patients and their families reflected that devotion. He was beloved by all those for whom he cared.

He was an avid cyclist and enjoyed spending summers at his lakeside cabin at Hayden Lake and spent the winters on the Big Island of Hawaii.

He was devoted to his family, Mari Bingham and Brad Mahoney and their children, Barron, Brooks, Bryce and Angel Bingham, and his partner, Susan Edsall. He leaves behind a community of cherished friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charles Bingham and his sister Mary Robinson. He is survived by his brother Al Bingham (Sherry).

A memorial service will be held on July 9, 2022, at 4 p.m. at Center Place Event Center at Mirabeau Point Park in Spokane Valley with a reception to follow. Please bring any photos or mementos you might have to share.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Spokane, Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho or the Lands Council of Spokane.
