CONGRESS: What about the Constitution?

| June 10, 2022 1:00 AM

We hear a lot these days about our “Democracy” but not in the Constitution. In my reading of history our Founding Fathers considered democracy and socialism and monarchy among others and rejected them all in favor of a Constitutional Republic. And speaking of the Constitution, I sometimes wonder whether after taking the oath to support and defend the Constitution if any in Congress have actually read the document.

There seems to be a lot of skirting of several amendments, particularly the 1st — the freedom of speech and the press — except for “hate” speech. And the 2nd — the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed — except for “assault” weapons. And the 4th — to be secure against unreasonable searches and seizures shall not be violated — except for “Red flag” laws to preemptively protect others from probable danger. And the 10th — the powers not delegated — by the Constitution nor prohibited by it to the states — are reserved to the states, or to the people.

How did we ever get to such an administrative quagmire? I suspect it may have something to do with greed and the lust for power inventing new rights and building enforcement agencies, rather than administer government under the Constitution and recognize state’s rights, Congress would rather kick the burden to the unelected and unaccountable alphabet soup of agencies with the power of law. The federal police forces of FBI, ATF, CIA, IRS and Secret Service to name just a few. God save the state!
