Acuffs a talented pair to draw to

| June 8, 2022 1:00 AM

I’ve known Heidi Acuff for quite a long time — mother, Fernan mayor, entrepreneur — Heidi’s Pancake Mix (whole wheat cottage cheese was my favorite!), Realtor, artist, a genuine Renaissance woman. I met Heidi’s son, Colby Acuff, a decade ago, when he played for a group of her women friends at their Fernan home. The polite, soft-spoken teen sang Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings so convincingly that I invited him to join me on the morning radio show I was co-hosting.

Fast forward from that early morning AM radio debut and Colby is 25 and a genuine up and comer in the country music scene. He plays guitar, drums, piano and mandolin, and is also a U of I grad, Realtor and just a really nice guy. He also happens to be an incredibly talented singer/songwriter who’s making his honky-tonk dreams come true, touring locally, regionally and nationally.

Tomorrow, June 9, is a unique opportunity to enjoy the artistry of both talented Acuffs. Heidi is the featured artist at the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center in June and July, with a free opening art show reception at 5 p.m. At 7 p.m., Colby will be on the JACC stage for a show. ‘Tis also the season for those who own RVs and travel trailers to put them to use, if it will finally stop raining and gas prices come down! As an FYI, in both Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene, any vehicle (including RVs) can only remain parked on a city street for 24 hours. The bad guys tend to take note when people are loading up and getting ready to head out of town, making your home vulnerable to burglaries.

If you’re going to be on vacation, you can also contact either PD so they can make patrol officers aware that the homeowner is out of town.
