JIM JONES: No thanks
In his recent op-ed, Jim Jones uses what is tantamount to an argument from authority via his bio: He’s a Vietnam vet (who we must presume was a serious gun wielder), a one-time NRA member (he ostensibly loved the right to keep and bear arms at some point), and an appartchik of the judicial system (he knows the law) to presume to tell us that since Idaho was once a given way, we should count our blessings or consider reestablishing that way.
So, because of Vietnam (see My Lai Massacre), because of the NRA (the RINO’s favorite gun control organization), and because he was an attorney (see Shakespeare), we should deem him credible and see the practical wisdom in his suggestion that we surrender rights.
No, thanks.
You see, Idaho’s legislature once supported Eugenics and forced sterilization (legislation not repealed until 1972). Shall we return to those good, wiser times? Shall we mention what the vaunted U.S. Supreme Court once decided about Dred Scott? Shall we mention Idaho’s founders’ views on universal suffrage? Ahhh, yesteryear!
Thinking folk are wise to be especially wary when a veteran and Statist careerist (an apparently proud member of the exact organization — the government — that the Second and Third Amendments were written to restrain and constrain) tells you differently.
Thanks for your service, Jimbo. Enjoy your pension(s).
