NIC names finalists for president

| June 1, 2022 12:51 PM

North Idaho College has announced five finalists to become NIC's permanent president.

Prior to releasing the finalists' names, Interim President Mike Sebaaly sent a message to employees. Sebaaly was not on the list of finalists, and it is unknown whether he applied for the permanent position.

“My role as interim president has been to bring stability and hope across the college. Much has been accomplished over the last seven months, specifically in the work we have done together. Thank you,” Sebaaly wrote in the message. “I look forward to welcoming NIC’s new president and helping with a successful transition.”

Sebaaly, NIC's former head wrestling coach, was hired to serve as interim president last fall, after the board fired former President Rick MacLennan without cause.

The final candidates are:

Dr. Samuel “Todd” Brand, Chief Academic Officer at Ashland Community & Technical College in Ashland, Ky.

Dr. Steve Condon, Chancellor at Carolina University in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Dr. Chad Crumbaker, Provost and Executive Vice President for Student Affairs at West Virginia University-Parkersburg in Parkersburg, W.Va.

Dr. Nick Swayne, Executive Director of 4-Virginia in Harrisonburg, Va.

Dr. James Y. Taylor, Senior Associate Vice President for Utah State University in Vernal, Utah.
