And you wondered why the city of Coeur d’Alene wants another 3% in property tax revenue?

One more item, ignite giving the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce $263,000. The Chamber messed up when they built their building. The county has apparently forgiven at least some of the Chamber’s property taxes. People are visiting the visitors center at a fraction of what was anticipated. So, yea, let’s just give that private organization more tax money. Idiotic. I can hear the negotiated discussions, “Ah, heck, it’s only $263,000, no one will notice that in our bloated budget.” There’s likely more than 3% waste in every city budget. Why not give it away to an overextended, failing organization like the local Chamber of Commerce.
